Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Zent app, the Zent controllers and this website keep, why, where it is stored and how you can delete it. Zent is responsible for this data. Contact: zent.tech.office@gmail.com.

What we keep

• Your account: email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), first name, surname and, if you add one, a profile photo. Your theme choice stays on your phone; your language is also kept with your alert preferences, so notifications arrive in it.
• Your devices: each controller’s name, room, position, motor state, battery level, firmware version, when it was last online, power-saving setting, schedules and groups.
• Approximate location: the city-level location of your internet connection (latitude, longitude and time zone), used only to work out sunrise and sunset for schedules. We never ask for your phone’s GPS location.
• Notifications: a push token for each phone where you allow notifications, and your alert preferences.
• Sharing: which devices you shared and with which Zent accounts.
• Voice assistants: if you link Zent to Google Home or Amazon Alexa, the link itself and the time it was last used.

Your Wi-Fi password is sent only to the controller during setup. It never reaches our servers. We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and we don’t sell data.

Why

Only to run the service you asked for: signing you in, showing and moving your blinds, running schedules, sending the alerts you turned on, letting people you choose control a device, updating the firmware and answering voice commands. The legal basis is the contract with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).

Where it is stored and who processes it

• Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage) in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
• Cloudflare hosts this website and the firmware, and gives us the city-level location of your connection.
• Expo, and through it Apple and Google, delivers push notifications.
• Google (Gmail) sends account emails such as password resets.
• Google Firebase keeps a backup of the previous version of the service.
• Google Home or Amazon Alexa, only if you link them: they receive your blinds’ names, rooms and states, and send the commands you give them. Their own privacy policies apply to what you say to them.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union, under the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long

As long as you have a Zent account. When you delete your account (Account and app settings → Delete account), we delete your account, profile photo, schedules, shares and voice assistant links, and your devices are released so they can be set up again. You can unlink Google Home or Alexa at any time from their apps.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, or receive it in a portable format, by writing to zent.tech.office@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP, dataprotection.ro) or the authority in your country.

Children

Zent isn’t meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly keep their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and tell you in the app when the change matters.
